Top 5 Online Books for Elementary-aged Kids
1.Read to Me
Popular titles such as Fancy Nancy and Chrysanthemum are performed by famous people. There are also books presented in Spanish and sign language. One extra bonus for teachers and parents are the lesson plans.
2. Storyline Online
Great stories such as Rainbow Fish and Thank You, Mr. Faulkner read by famous actors, Annette Benning, and politicians, Al Gore.
3. KOL Jr. Stories
Popular character Arthur has a few stories on this website. There are some beautifully illustrated books such as Snow White. There are parent resources and some other kid-friendly activities.
4. Barnes and Noble
Great free online source of popular picture books such as Pete the Cat and Charlie the Ranch Dog that are read aloud without the text.
5. Tumblebooks
This is my favorite and the only online reading site that can cost money. If you are lucky like the library-card owners of Salem, Oregon, it is free through the library website. This amazing resource for teachers and parents has a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction and even chapter books for a wide range of ages and interests. There are options on having text on the screen, on having it read aloud or on automatic everything. Teachers and homeschool parents will find the lesson plans helpful.
I hope you enjoy exploring these valuable additions to creating a literature rich environment for your children.
